Tommy's margarita recipe

A twist on the classic margarita, with agave syrup rather than triple sec. Originally served at Tommy's Mexican restaurant in San Francisco and now a classic in its own right. 

Pouring tequila into a glass with ice and a salt rim


  • 50ml Herradura tequila
  • Juice of half lime
  • Agave nectar


Served on the rocks

  1. Cut a lime quarter and rub along the rim of the glass, hold the glass upside down and dust with salt. Or, pour salt onto a plate and place the glass upside down to cover the rim
  2. Fill glass with ice and squeeze 1/2 lime
  3. Stir through 50ml tequila and tablespoon of agave
  4. Enjoy!
